The Croft

We are committed to making our facilities and services as accessible as possible to all. The Croft is family run park with 5 static caravans, 7 self-catering apartments and 17 lodges located within the boundaries of Hawkshead Parish.

We provide below access and accommodation details, but if there are any aspects not covered below, please do contact the site office and we would be pleased to provide further information.

The Croft – Camping & Caravan Site

The Croft static caravans have 2/3 steps, but we have two units with ramp access, although there is a door threshold of approximately 70mm in each property.

External doors have a clear opening of at least 82cm.

Internal doors are of a standard design with a clear opening of approximately 75cm.

Televisions are available in all of our static caravans, with a minimum of 50cm (20 inch) screen. Remote controls are available for most televisions.

All accommodation has parking adjacent, or nearby.

Refuse bins are located at each caravan, lodge and outside the apartments in certain areas. Rubbish is collected from these weekly.

The caravans for hire at The Croft do not have special adaptations for the use of persons with disability, but our bookings office should be able to assist you in choosing the most suitable static caravan to meet with your requirements.

Assistance dogs are very welcome and there are a number of footpaths for their exercising close to The Croft.

The Croft campsite is level in nature. With the lodges and caravans being on one side of North Lonsdale Road and the apartments located on the other with private parking at the entrance to the large garden shared by the apartments.

The majority of roadways are tarmac with some gravelled parking areas. All roadways also serve as pedestrian pathways, but speed restrictions apply for all vehicles for the safety of pedestrians. Footpaths are of tarmac or stone construction.

The Croft Self-Catering Apartments

There are 7 self-catering apartments within The Croft, some are on ground level with a couple of steps.

The self-catering apartments for hire at The Croft do not have special adaptations for the use of persons with disability, but our bookings office should be able to assist you in choosing the most suitable apartment to meet with your requirements.

Amenities Nearby

There are a number of shops located in the village, a Post Office, a small Co-Op, a deli, and a Chemist which offer an extensive range of provisions.  There is also a Doctor’s surgery directly opposite the Croft. There are also 4 public houses within the village that offer somewhere to eat.

Lighting is installed around the park.

Public transport that serves The Croft is a few minutes away.  There is a bus stop located within Hawkshead. Bus services run between Hawkshead, Coniston and Ambleside regularly throughout the day. Taxi telephone numbers can be obtained from information in your accomodation.

A public telephone is available in Hawkshead a few minutes away near to the bus stop.

Mobile phone networks work at The Croft.
